Maria Cecilia Deferrari is honored and overjoyed to be participating in the Live Well Kingston Leadership Team. The mission of Live Well Kingston makes her heart sing. She is interested in creating the world as it should be and Live Well Kingston effectuates these changes.
Maria Cecilia is a MA and NY Certified Spanish-language Court Interpreter, NYS Board of Education Certified Adult Education Instructor and Master Gardener. She serves on the Kingston YMCA Farm Project Advisory Board.
In the past, Maria Cecilia has worked as a CSA Farm-worker, Camp Counselor and Language Agency Manager. She has also worked locally at Cooperative Extension of Ulster County on Food Desert issues, blogged about local people who have reduced or eliminated the need for Type-2 Diabetes medications and conducted Outreach for the Extended Food & Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Education. Locally, she loves to act on stage at Coach House Players.
Currently, Maria Cecilia supervises Assessment and Outreach Workers for Ulster County Healthy Families, an entirely free and voluntary home visiting parent education program housed within the Institute for Family Health.
