Katie is the Eat Smart NY Nutrition Educator at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County. Eat Smart NY provides nutrition education to the SNAP and SNAP-eligible population around New York State, as well as facilitating policy, systems, and environmental changes to make healthier choices easier for everyone. Prior to joining the CCE staff, Katie lived in New York City for 10 years and held several positions that promoted healthy food and physical activity for residents of NYC, including coordinating Local Produce Link, a farm-to-food pantry program connecting Hudson Valley farms with city food pantries; and working with Move-to-Improve, a NYC Department of Education initiative that trained classroom teachers to engage students in physical activity during the school day. Katie has a BS in Dietetics from the University of Rhode Island and a Masters in Public Health Nutrition from UC Berkeley. Katie lives in Beacon and in her free time enjoys renovating her house, exploring the Hudson Valley, and cooking healthy meals.
