Join the City of Kingston’s Urban Forester for a guided tour of the new tree plantings at Post Office Park! With 50 trees throughout the site, attendees will be able to learn information about tree species, historical contexts, as well as what benefits the trees provide to birds, pollinators, and other fauna. The tour will take 1.5 hours and conclude with an optional 30-minute “Weeding Blitz” to remove small weeds around the tree planting beds in order to help the trees with their growing needs. Gardening gloves will be available for up to 20 people. Attendees are recommended to bring water, sun protection or rain protection, and questions about trees! Those who would like to help with weeding may also bring their own gardening gloves to help prevent the group from running out of community gloves. Tree tour will continue in the event of light rain and will be postponed to a future date if there are heavy showers.

“Complete Streets” is a term used to describe ordinary city streets that are designed to encourage people of all ages and abilities, by any mode of transportation, to use them. The more than 86 miles of local roads within the City are some of the most heavily used public spaces in the City.
Kingston’s Common Council created the Complete Streets Advisory Council in late 2010. The group is charged with advising the City on ways Kingston can implement Complete Streets principles in its planning, design, and construction activities.
The Complete Streets Advisory Council’s agenda and notes can be found on the City’s website calendar: www.kingston-ny.gov.
The Council meets monthly on the second Wednesday, 4pm, in Conference Room 1, top floor of City Hall, 420 Broadway, Kingston, NY. Meetings can also be viewed on the City’s YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/c/CityofKingstonNY/videos.

We start and finish at the Midtown Linear Park next to the Cornell St. parking lot and our destinations and route change for each ride. Join us Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 9:00 am – 12:30 pm, for the Grow Well garden tour. The tour will visit six of the City of Kingston’s community gardens. Learn about the gardens and meet the garden stewards. Share the love of gardening and meet new neighbors.
The tour will be via bicycle, but it’s not a requirement to participate. The first 5 gardens are close enough to walk. Or meet us at your favorite garden at the time below. Contact us if you would like to borrow a bicycle or need a helmet. The route is 4 miles total and will be at a slow pace. Here is a map of the route. There will be a pickup truck at the last garden for anyone who may need a ride back to the start. New this year: Spanish interpretation will be available thanks to the Hudson Valley Farm Hub!
This tour has six scheduled stops; join us at any location or the full ride.
Please wear comfortable clothes, bring water, sunblock, snacks, and anything else to be comfortable. Bring food and stay for a picnic lunch at the end of the tour.
The event is rain or shine. If needed, cancellation will be decided on Friday, September 12th at noon and posted here.
For more information or to request a bicycle or helmet, please contact Emily Flynn of the City of Kingston Health and Wellness Department at (845) 334 – 3909.
