Grow Well Kingston is a collective of organizations and individuals that support Kingston residents to grow plants and raise animals for food, medicine, natural habitat, and beauty, by supporting projects that provide knowledge, growing spaces, and resources.
This meeting will be at the Rondout Gardens Community Garden (AKA, Rainbowdreamsnake) located at Murray Street and Rondout Drive. We’ll discuss Community Garden news, and Garden Stewards will be on hand for “Ask a Gardener” Q & A. These meetings are safe spaces to share ideas and offer support. Join us! “Complete Streets” is a term used to describe ordinary city streets that are designed to encourage people of all ages and abilities, by any mode of transportation, to use them. The more than 86 miles of local roads within the City are some of the most heavily used public spaces in the City.
Kingston’s Common Council created the Complete Streets Advisory Council in late 2010. The group is charged with advising the City on ways Kingston can implement Complete Streets principles in its planning, design, and construction activities.
The Complete Streets Advisory Council’s agenda and notes can be found on the City’s website calendar: www.kingston-ny.gov.
The Council meets monthly on the second Wednesday, 4pm, in Conference Room 1, top floor of City Hall, 420 Broadway, Kingston, NY. Meetings can also be viewed on the City’s YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/c/CityofKingstonNY/videos.

They do this by: bringing together the focus teams, or subcommittees, Age Well, Eat Well, Grow Well, Play Well, Travel Well; monitoring public health trends; setting strategic direction and goals; and leading communications. Join Grow Well Kingston on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm for a guided visit to five gardens in the City of Kingston. Learn about the spaces and meet the stewards. Share the love of gardening and meet new neighbors.
Join us via bicycle to visit all five gardens or meet us at any of the stops along the way. Contact us if you would like to borrow a bicycle or need a helmet. The route is 4 miles total and will be at a slow pace. Spanish interpretation will be available thanks to the Hudson Valley Farm Hub.
This route has five scheduled stops:
- 9 am: Urban Greens Garden, 22 Elmendorf Street
- 9:30: Harambee Heritage Community Garden, 157 Pine Street
- 10 am: Barmann Park Garden, 3 S. Clinton Ave
- 10:30 am: Kingston YMCA Farm Project, 1 Summer Street
- 11 am: GW Elementary Garden, 67 Wall St (Washington Ave side)
Please wear comfortable clothes, bring water, sunblock, snacks, and anything else to be comfortable.
Any changes in the plan or cancellation will be decided on Friday, August 29th at noon and posted here.
